Kid's Fishing Derby
For more than 30 years
Potomac Bassmasters of Virginia (PBV) has sponsored an annual fishing derby for
the children of the greater D.C. metropolitan area. The tournament goal is to
have fun and introduce children to the wonderful experience of fishing and being
outdoors. Rods and reels are provided for children who do not have fishing gear
and PBV members are available to share their angling expertise. Admission is
free and bait is provided at no charge. Prizes are awarded at the end of the
tournament and each child will be given a small take-away gift.

Youth Fishing Derby Held for Area Children
Potomac
Bassmasters of Virginia (PBV) will hold its annual youth fishing derby on
Sunday, June 8, between 9:00 and 12 noon at Burke Lake Park, Fairfax County,
Virginia.
For more
than 30 years PBV has sponsored a fishing derby for children of the greater D.C.
metropolitan area. The goal is to have fun and enjoy the wonderful experience of
fishing. Admission to the derby is free and each child will be given a
take-away gift for their participation. Angling experience is not necessary as
club members will be on hand to help any child who needs assistance. If a child
does not have fishing gear, a rod and reel will be provided and live bait will
be given to all derby participants at no charge. All fish caught by the
children will be weighed-in at the end of the derby. Trophies and prizes will be
awarded for the heaviest creels (total fish caught).
